What High Malaria Parasite Means

If malaria parasite DETECTED: immediate treatment needed. P. falciparum is the dangerous species — can cause cerebral malaria, organ failure. P. vivax is less dangerous but can relapse. Treatment depends on species.

Malaria (P. falciparum or P. vivax)

What Low Malaria Parasite Means

Not detected is reassuring but a single negative smear doesn't fully exclude malaria. If fever persists, repeat test every 12-24 hours for 3 days.
